Born October 23, 1947, in Turkey, she spent her childhood frequently relocating as her father was in the Turkish military. She immigrated to the United States in her teenage years and lived in New York, Virginia, and Texas before settling down in New York City, where she would spend much of her adult life. Nurdan owned her own brokerage firm and became president of an investment firm on Wall Street. She later became an infrastructure contracting consultant, working largely overseas. Her work took her to Bosnia, South Africa, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya, among other places.
She loved to travel to new places and experience new things. Her spontaneous personality led her to often take short trips on a whim without specific plans as she would follow her instincts and feelings along the way. Her competitive nature made her a lover of games and puzzles, backgammon and jigsaw puzzles being her favorites. Nurdan loved the arts; she performed as a ballerina in her childhood and pursued oil painting as hobby throughout her life.
Nurdan will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband and best friend Anthony J. Scioli; her sisters, Baldan Sulker, Ardan Morris, and Candan Yurdakul; her sons, Justin A. Scioli and Eric Stanfield; and her granddaughter, Ashley Stanfield. She will also be forever remembered by her brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Nurdan Scioli to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
