Melvin Alphonso Campbell was born on February 16, 1952, in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica to Gloria O. Campbell and Solomon A. Campbell. Melvin attended Dunrobin Basic School followed by Hatfield Primary School, then Beaumont Comprehensive College.
Following his studies in Jamaica, Melvin migrated to the United States of America in 1970, taking residence in Miami, Florida. Once settled in Miami, Melvin decided to advance his studies by furthering his education at Miami-Dade College. As a young adult in a new country, Melvin began working at numerous restaurants as a dishwasher working his way up to becoming a cook and later a head chef. This determination shows just an example of who Melvin was.
Melvin was a great family man and a loving father. He was a social and active man who was deeply involved in his church, United Church of Jesus Christ, having served as a Deacon. He enjoyed cooking and loved his family. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind, devoted and compassionate person.
Melvin is survived by his mother, Gloria Campbell, his son, Dayne Campbell, and his siblings, Roy Campbell, Errol Campbell, Angela Campbell, Maxine Campbell, Ann Campbell, Wayne Campbell, Garth Campbell, and Deon Campbell. As well as, a numerous number of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Melvin is preceded in death by his father, Solomon Campbell, and his sister, Doreth Campbell
