Barbara Nell Wilcox

WILCOX, BARBARA NELL, 83, of Tampa, FL, passed away on August 6, 2016. Barbara was born on June 15, 1933, to Herman and Leona Bradshaw (both deceased) in Luverne, AL. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Roy Wilcox and sister, Joyce Davis. She is survived by daughters Debbie Strawser (Tim) and Cathy Hanson (Mark), sister Sara Nicholson (Dan), brothers Dennis Bradshaw (Gretchen) and David Bradshaw (Pat), grandchildren Josh Hanson (Aniesa), Jessica Reder (Andrew), and Michael Strawser (Seirra), stepdaughters LeeAnn Kaiser and Shari Martinez, stepgrandchildren Alex Martinez and Christine Martinez. Barbara was a successful real estate broker and owned Barbara Realty for twenty-six years. Barbara was an active member of Idlewild Baptist Church and served on the Benevolence Committee and Touching Tomorrow Together Committee. She was a board member of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay and John H. Sykes Charitable Foundation. Barbara was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to the Judicial Nominating Commission and was closely involved in the campaigns of both Governor Jeb Bush and President George W. Bush. Other memberships and awards include: Tampa Board of Realtors, Drug Free America Advisory Board, honoree of the Cup of Compassion 2004 Crisis Center, Tampa Republican Women’s Federation, National Association for Female Executives, Foundation for Florida’s Future, awarded Paul Harris Fellowship from Rotary Club, Krewe of Venus, Ladies of the Crown, Kudo’s Award recipient, and Florida Cancer Network. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2016, at Idlewild Baptist Church, 18333 Exciting Idlewild Blvd, Lutz, FL, 33548, with visitation at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am, and burial at Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to Idlewild Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, or to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
