Mava A. Lowe, age 91, of Brandon, Florida passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020. Mava was born January 12, 1929 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Mary Louise (Foster) and Wilbur Adams. She spent her childhood in Kentucky before moving to Florida. She graduated from Manatee High School in Bradenton, FL.
She was employed by GTE for many years earning the position of Senior Sales Manager prior to retiring from the company. She was an active member of Bell Shoals Church for twenty years. Prior to that she was an involved member of First Baptist Church in Lutz.
Quilting and sewing were talents Mava possessed. Always keeping busy, she also enjoyed teaching her niece and grand-daughters needlework. She especially enjoyed playing cards with friends having a reputation for being a fierce competitor. She enjoyed people, never having met a stranger, and was frequently the life of the party. However, Mava’s favorite activity was spending time with her family. She especially cherished time spent with her grand-children and great grand-children.
Survivors include her son, David Lawson and his wife Jan; daughter, Dena Fernandez and her husband Ralph; brother, Ethridge Adams and his wife Faye; sisters, Vivian Reeser and Becky Adams; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Jim Lawson, George W. Hansen, Jr., and C.M. Lowe.
A funeral service for Mava will be held at 11 am, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon,FL 33511. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 NUS 301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592. There will be no graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Moffit Cancer Center or Bell Shoals Baptist Church.
