Phyllis was born in Bridgeport, CT to Ruth and Robert Williams on July 5, 1927. She married Joseph W. Latham on September 21, 1946. She worked at the Waterbury Lock & Specialty Company in Milford, and later relocated to Newtown, CT where she was employed by the Newtown Bee, local newspaper. She later worked as a CNA for Ashlar of Newtown, Masonic Home and Hospital. She was a longtime member of both Mary Taylor Memorial Church in Milford and Newtown United Methodist Church in Newtown, CT. She relocated to Florida in 1990. She and her Husband were very active in the Give Kids the World Village, a non-profit vacation spot for critically ill children and their families in Kissimmee, FL.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her Husband Joseph, and her eight siblings, Ruth, Anna, Dorothy, Sally, Barbara, Raymond, Robert and Harold.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Diane Vorrase and Husband William, daughter Joanne Latham and son William Latham and wife Stacie. She has two grandchildren, Leanne Vorrase and Loren Purcell, Husband Ben.
There will be a private family service in Tampa, FL where she lived. She will be buried with her Husband in Ft. Pierce, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome at either of Phyllis’ three favorite charities, Food for the Poor, Food for the Hungry and World Missionary Evangelism.
