Ruby Margaret Strachan

December 10, 1940October 27, 2018

Our dearly beloved Ruby Strachan was born Ruby Margaret Alexander on the 10th of December 1940 on the West Indies island of Grenada. Ruby migrated to the United states in 1971 where she built her life and raised her six children. Being an immigrant, she worked as a home health aide and a customer service representative at John F. Kennedy airport to support her family. She embodied the definition of a strong and independent woman. She has been a pillar of strength to both her family and relatives... To her family, she was not just a mother but an intercessor, a life coach, a friend, a fighter, a wrestler, a superhero... To her relatives, she opened her home to all her relatives that eventually migrated over to the united states and over the course of her life, she has opened both her home and her heart to many others who were stranded along the way due to homelessness. She never left anyone stranded. To her sisters Chrisilda Alexander and Pearl Weekes whom she loved dearly, she remained true to their covenant! Ms. Pearl Weekes would describe their bond as “triplets and friends”. Ms. Chrisilda Alexander would describe their sisterhood as partaking in each other life’s challenges and supporting one another with everything life brought their way.
