Sam Lougheed touched many lives with his kindness, generosity and happy outlook on life. He had a love and a passion for everything he did. He accepted everyone for who they were, forgave easily and considered all he met a friend. Sam accomplished his dream of owning his own bike shop when, four years ago, he started Sam’s Bike Worx. Educated as a plumber, he had a love for all things mechanical, and especially bicycles and motorcycles. He is survived by his parents, William and Vicki, his sister, Grace, his beloved cat Nugget, his extended loving family, and countless friends. He was a fun-loving spirit who will forever be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Sam’s name to either WellBuilt Bikes, 12256 University Mall Ct., Tampa, FL 33612 or the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center, 440 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa, FL 33619

Sam came into my life the way he must have came into countless other peoples lives - briefly, and helping them solve a problem. I had a strange bike from Japan that needed repair and didn't know the first thing about it. He was knowledgeable and patient, and at the risk of making this seem like a work review, I honestly couldn't have asked for better service. But more than his patience and assistance was the impression he left on me that day I met him. As a kind person with a creative mind, i admired the way he was living his dreams and running his own business, and the passion and convictions he related to me while we exchanged stories. We bonded over our love of animals, our disappointment at the deterioration of the environment, and our hopes for a bright and positive future. He was a great young man - younger than me - but he spoke with a wisdom and practicality the likes of which I couldn't appreciate in our short interaction, but now am hauntingly aware of.

There will never be another person who leaves such an impression to make me feel so deeply for their loss, in such a short time as I knew him.

I met Sam at the TT Cyclovia where he graciously fixed a brake on my bike as part of his participation in the event. He was engaging and proud to tell me about his business that day. It had such an impact on me that I called him every time I had a bike repair need after that event.
I knew him as a businessman of integrity, philanthropy, intelligence, and honesty who was engaged in this community.
The world has lost a good, young man in Sam.
My thoughts, prayers and heart go out to his family.

Our hearts are heavy from the loss of Sam, who feels like another son to us. It's impossible to reflect back to our son's youth and not think of Sam, who was one of his very best buddies. It was in the many heartwarming moments of seemingly routine days, through the years that Sam completely endeared himself to us by way of his genuinely kind, loving and adventurous spirit. To his parents, Vicki and Bill, and his loving sister, Grace - we offer our most heartfelt sympathy and prayers. We'd like to share the following quote with all mourning precious Sam, 'When a candle goes out so suddenly, the darkness can be overwhelming, but in the heart there is a glimmer of light because love holds the memories that gently keep glowing forever.'
All our Love,
Janine and Steve Truesdell

We are so deeply sorry for your loss. Having known Sam for the better part of the past two decades, I can say without a doubt that he was a remarkable and truly special young man. He gave of himself unto others with such genuine compassion and kindness, such that he impacted the lives of many for the better. I have so many fond memories of him as a young child and really cherished being able to watch him grow up and became a wonderful young man. You all should be very proud of the young man you raised.

Our thoughts and hearts are with you during this time of sorrow.

Sincerely,

Nicolette and Ashby

Vicki, Bill and Gracie,
My heart is broken with the loss of Sam. He was such a kind hearted and free spirited child who grew into a very caring and compassionate young man. Our family has so many fond memories and funny stories that we will always cherish. We are so sorry for your loss and hope all those wonderful memories of the young man you raised him to become will help get you thru the days and months and years ahead. It was so nice to read all the loving words from so many of his friends and business associates and it made me even more proud to have him as a nephew. RIP Sam. We love you dearly and will forever miss you. Love Aunt Kate and Peter

Dear Vicki,

I don't know if you remember me, but I taught at Lewis from 2007-2017 and you were always a friendly, familiar face volunteering around campus and when I've run into you at Publix in more recent years. I want you to know that you, your husband, and your daughter, who I also remember from Lewis, have been on my mind and in my prayers since I learned yesterday from a friend of your loss of Sam. He had fixed a couple of bikes for us as well as for friends that we recommended him to. The only time I met him personally was at Susan Hall's retirement party years ago. I remember him sharing a few memories of his time at Lewis and his fondness for his teachers. The room was packed full of former and current teachers, and I just remember the quiet as everyone listened to Sam's sweet words. I know I can't understand the unspeakable grief you and your family are feeling. But please know that I am praying for your healing and hoping that you can take comfort for the gift of having had Sam in your lives.

My family is sending our love to you all.
