Woody was the finest physician that I have had the privilege to have met. He was a great Dr. and will be greatly missed.

I miss you so much Woody... I was so blessed that you gave me gifts of your time. I enjoyed the dinners with great conversation, puppy hours (even being called helicopter mom)! You were such a wonderful caring gentleman. I loved listening and learning from all of your knowledge about everything. I thank you for being the one to help me understand what happened to my Madison when I lost her. That has given me some peace. I miss you on messenger with all the things you would send to make me smile! I wish you didn't have to leave us Woody because  we had many many more laughs to share. This world is not the same with out your laugh in it!!! Love you always Woody 

I never had the chance to meet Woody in person but I enjoyed his Facebook posts and his humor. I could tell he was a gentleman by the way he spoke. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to the family. 

Although my graduation from Annapolis was  11 years prior to Woody's graduation from West Point, we both became Gator doctors together from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1968.  Woody was such an inspiration to me throughout medical school, with his hard work and ever-present humor.  To me, he was the outstanding member of our class!  Nell and I will miss his presence here on earth a lot!  

Fate brought me to Dr. Rogers many years ago with a potbellied pig bite. I was immediately drawn to him with his kindness. wit, and quiet intensity. not only was he my General Practitioner for many years to come but also my mother, brother and many referred friends. Of all the good times we had together, my favorite memory of Woody takes us back about ten years to an impromptu roof top party at our house across the street from Hugh and Woody’s on Sunset Beach.   There was a lot of limoncello involved and those who were there will know why this memory is so special.  Hugh, we’re so sorry to lose Woody.  I loved his wonderful humor,  his love of life and fun, his outrage at our current political dilemmas,  and his razor sharp wit.   I will miss him, he will be missed by many.  In his absence,  Jeff and I are here for you if there is anything we can do.  

I did not know Woody that long,  but every conversation was a challenge for me!  😀

I am glad we had the opportunity last Friday night to speak.  You were a true southern gentleman.

I treasure fond memories of Holiday sing-a-longs in our family home in Forest City, Florida in the 60's and 
70's. Woody hammering out Broadway show tunes back-to-back on his beloved piano - Camelot then Carousel then Man of La Mancha then Sound of Music. Playing with the dexterity of Rachmaninoff, the passion of Chopin, and the genius of Mozart.  Some singing on-key, others off-key, but all smiling, laughing, and loving every precious note...and each other.  🎹

Thanks for being a great support when I started in the ER in ‘86. 
Loved your music and funny jokes. 
You loved my brownies so I am bringing a batch to share. 


Hugh I think of the two of you often. I am so sorry for your loss.

Thank you, Woody, for your big personality and your passion for life! My fondest memory of you will always be you holding Andrew  when he was a baby and rubbing his head. It was so natural the way you held and looked at him. I was never a patient of yours, but watching you with something so delicate and vulnerable, it was clear you did fulfill your calling as a Doctor. David, Andrew and I will miss you dearly and are fortunate to have known you and have fun with you!

He is survived by the love of his life for 51 years, Hugh M. Martin Jr, M.D.; sisters: Mary Lou Rogers, Robin (Bob) Andersohn, and Cherry Rogers; nephew, Robert Andersohn; and his beloved dog, Cooper.
