Shirley was born in Taylor, Tx on 01/18/1948 to the late Robert and Emma Heselmeyer. She graduated from Thrall High School. She married the late Ervin Volek on 10/08/1966.
She worked as a tax examiner for IRS for 30 years. Shirley enjoyed dancing with her husband to polka and waltz music, cooking, reading, visiting with friends on the phone and spending time with family. She was a member of the Sons of Hermann organization for 70 years. Throughout her life she gave back to the community through school donations, Brown Santa, food pantry and Christmas Operation.
Shirley is survived by her loving daughter Stephannie Woelfel and husband Edward. 2 grandchildren who were so precious to her: Madalynn Raesz and husband Montgomery and Logan Woelfel.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Ervin Volek, her parents Robert and Emma Heselmeyer, siblings; Bobby Ray, Lynn Fay and Melissa.
Serving as Pallbearers are Edward Woelfel, Logan Woelfel, Montgomery Raesz, Glenn Faykus, Melvin Volek, Ronnie Heselmeyer and Joey Quebe. Honorary Pallbearer is Alvin Faykus.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Taylor Brethren Church located at 710 Sloan St. Taylor, Texas. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s honor to the Taylor Brethren Church.
The family of Shirley Ann Heselmeyer Volek wishes to thank SPJST nursing home for their unconditional care throughout the last year and a half, especially nurse Rylie. Also, St. David's Georgetown for the comfort and care provided to Shirley and her family.
