Bennie Everett Richards III
June 23, 1990 – April 25, 2020
Bennie Everett Richards III, of Phoenix, AZ, died Saturday April 25, 2020. Bennie was born on June 23, 1990 in Woodland Hills, CA. He would be turning 30 this summer. We were planning a trip to hike the Narrows in Zion National Park, Southern Utah, near Bryce Canyon where we were engaged on February 16, 2015.
Bennie became a follower of Jesus while in rehab at Teen Challenge. He made many lifelong friends while he served there as an intern as the Kitchen Manager.
He knew me deeply from early in our relationship and he spoke the truth of God’s promises into my life. I’ll never forget his description of the Tree of Life and how beautiful heaven is going to be. Now he is with Jesus and I’m not going to lie, I’m a little bit jealous he left me behind. His love for me was steadfast, the same with the way he loved his parents, his little sister, and our cats.
All he ever wanted in life was to be a husband and a father. I will miss his big bear hugs at the end of a hard day and sharing pizza while watching Friends. He has seen each episode over 200 times and he would still laugh like he was watching it for the first time.
He had many hobbies, I’m sure he’s in heaven finding the most perfect mushrooms and now he doesn’t need a book to identify them. He thrived in the kitchen, working at Switch Restaurant for 5 years.
Dear Bennie… “You are the stars in the skies, You are the sound of the rain, You are the strong sense of calm that takes away all my pain. You are the rush of the wind. You are the angel I need, I find the proof of God in every single word that you speak.” I’m still listening to you and trusting you, I know you’re out there. I love you. May you live a joyful life in Heaven.
