OBITUARY

James C. Hopson

September 25, 1950January 10, 2021

James C. Hopson was born on September 25, 1950 in Bentonia, Mississippi and went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 10, 2021.

James was passionate in the way he worked and played. During the week he was a dedicated surveyor and senior crew chief, contributing to the growth of central Texas for over 21 years. On the weekends, you would find him at the ball park, supporting the team spirit and camaraderie as an umpire for the National Softball Association where you could hear him calling strike from a mile away.

His ability to start up a conversation with anyone that was around made it so he was never alone. James was a kind and patient man, always willing to lend a helping hand and always generous with his humor. James was a loving husband for 33 years, a supportive father and a loyal friend to all.

James is survived by his wife Sylvia Hopson; his daughter Ashley and husband Brandon Hill, his son James and wife HealtherLea Hopson with grandchildren William and Elizabeth Hopson and his daughter Jennifer Hopson; a sister Denise Hopson; mother and father in law John and Juanita Torrez; brothers in law John and Manuel Torrez, sister in law Rosalinda Valdez along with their spouses and children and several extended family members in Texas and Mississippi. James was preceded in death by his parents James Alvin and Myra Bernice Hopson along with sisters Diane Crabtree and Ivy Hopson.

As so many have said before me, what a great, gentleman umpire and friend, Jim was. Thanks for teaching me how to be all of those! To the Hopson family, may God keep you in the palm of his hand, and I pray for peace, comfort and togetherness for you all.

Our Dearest Jim,
Tomorrow will be a week that you left us and you are gone but never forgotten. We will keep you and all the precious memories in our hearts. Missing your "good morning sunshine" when you called, most all your hugs and smile. May the Lord open his arms to hold and hug you for us! We loved you so much and will always keep you in our hearts forever! You are one more angel in heaven to watch over all of us! Love you, son.
"Mom & Dad", as you always said we were to you,

Mrs. Hobson and family, I was ALWAYS HONORED whenever I got a chance to be able to take the field with Jimmy and after the first time just being with him was THE HONOR. Many battles faced on field always knew my back was covered, and then after the games were over the pleasure was never over. He was and ALWAYS will be a SHINING EXAMPLE of a TRUE FRIEND and knowing his love for JESUS makes it more tolerable because I know we'll see each other again. Gods peace and blessing be with you now and in the days to comes. LOVE Billy Jim
