Iris Dillard

Iris Dillard of Forney, Texas, age 96 passed away on Monday February 24, 2020. Iris Lorine Corley Archer Dillard was born October 18, 1923 in the Tundra community which is located in Van Zandt County to William Hiram and Nora Fowler Corley.

Iris grew up in the Tundra community and smaller surrounding communities in Van Zandt County then moved to Waco, then to Dallas where she graduated from Sunset High School. Iris eventually moved back to her hometown in the early 1990's but for the last 5 years she moved to Forney, Texas where she lived at Ridgecrest Health Care Center. Iris was married to Eugene Archer and had one son Charles William Archer. Iris married Paul Dillard and had two children Garry Paul Dillard and Janice Lynn Dillard. Iris worked at Oak Farms in Dallas, Texas, the VA Hospital in Dallas, Texas and retired from Peter Paul Candy Company also located in Dallas, Texas after 26 years. Iris was a member of the Bartimeaus Baptist Temple in Dallas for over 50 years.

Iris is preceded in death by her parents Hiram and Nora Corley, sister Algie Harris and two great grandsons Corley Dillard and Dakota Watson.

Those left with cherished memories are her two sons Charles Archer and wife Sherrie of Canton,Texas and Garry Dillard and wife Rebecca of Edgewood, Texas, daughter Janice Morris and husband Mike of Dallas, Texas, 14 grandchildren: Tracey Laing and husband Stephen, Toni Ramirez, Tammy Christensen and husband Shawn, Amy Dillard, Misti Warren, Garry Dillard Jr., Dwayne Watson, Darrell Watson and wife Ashlea, Angie Moser, Richard Brown and wife Sandra, George Britton III, Michelle Day and husband Bobby, Stephanie Renfro and husband Tommy and Brien Morris and wife Kathy, 27 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other beloved family, close friends, and her special friends at Ridgecrest.

A visitation for Iris will be held Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson Clayton Funeral Home in Terrell, Texas. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Anderson Clayton in Terrell, Texas followed with a graveside service at College Mound Cemetery in Terrell, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers are Dwayne Watson, Darrell Watson, Garry Dillard Jr. , Richard Brown, George Forman and Dameon Gebhauer.

Sweetheart, you will forever be our family. My second mom all of my life. Janice &I did so many things together throughout life & you & mom were always there with us. Camp Fire Girls summer camps every year, making dinner at the camp fire, You & mom having as much fun as we were. The trips the four of us made together in the summers. Weekend trips to Canton to see Grandpa & to go to First Monday. Our trips to New Mexico to see Tony & the kids. Lunches with you & Janice at the Italian place & the Mexican place close to your latest home. These and many more are all the memories we will keep close to our hearts until we meet again. We love you.

Iris I think about you everyday . I can still see your face and hear you say I love you very much with your sweet smile. You meant the world to me and I know I can find comfort in knowing you are in Heaven with our precious Lord. I will miss you sweetheart and I know that I will see you again in Heaven one day . My condolences to your family.
