Rosalie "Pooey" Pope, born February 2, 1930 to John and Rosie Schoen, was a resident of Texarkana most her life. She went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 7, 2020.

She graduated from Elementary and High School at Providence Academy. During her high school career she was very active in student activities, serving as cheerleader, president of the Sodality Of Our Lady Organization and a May Queen. She attended Texarkana Junior College and later served as Vice President of the Catholic Youth Organization in her city. Rosalie was employed by Texarkana Water Utilities.

She met the love of her life, John through a Correspondence Club in a national Catholic magazine. John was a resident of Wasco, CA. After many letters, phone calls, and two visits, they were wed at St. Edward Catholic Church on February 2, 1957.

The couple then moved to Wasco where Rosalie was a DEVOTED housewife and mother of three boys. They lived in Wasco for ten years.

She and John made their way back south to Texarkana in 1967. Rosalie was a regular cast member of the KC Variety Show for 8 years; treasurer for the Altar Society; Sunday School Teacher; and counted the church collection for over 30 years.

She worked in the bindery department at Alaska Printing for 15 years and retired in 1992.

Rosalie loved to cook for her family. People came from miles around to feast on her fried chicken and four layer delight. Her Hershey Chocolate cake recipe won first place in the Southern Living magazine.

Her personality, laughter and smile were contagious to all who came into contact with her. Her house in Lakewood Estates was a safe haven for all of the neighborhood kids to visit for advice, a smile or a joke. She simply made people feel welcomed and important.

Rosalie enjoyed playing Shanghai Rummy, working Crypto Quotes in the daily paper and "Getting in the Last Word" with the "Old Man".

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rosie Schoen; daughter-in-law, Sue Pope; sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and Knox Morse; brothers, Marcus Schoen and Robert Schoen; sister-in-laws Katherine Schoen and Jean Schoen; niece Kim Hughes; and great nephew, Clint Carpenter.

She is survived by her husband of 63 blessed and wonderful years, John Pope; three sons, Marc Pope of Texarkana, TX, Doug Pope of Texarkana, AR and Jeff and Jeanine Pope of Fort Morgan, Colorado; three brothers and two sister-in-laws, Paul Schoen of Texarkana, AR, Jody and Thana Schoen of Little Rock, AR and Harry and Cheryl Schoen of Texarkana, AR; and 5 grandchildren, Brandy Bonner, DJ Pope, Dallas Pope, Jonathon Pope and Jayne Pope, and three great grandchildren Makenna, Asher and Elijah Pope and a number of nieces and nephews.
