
Donald R. Sowers, Sr. passed away peacefully on February 13, 2020 with his wife of nearly 53 years at his side. Born in Russellville, OH he served in the US Navy. After marriage he resided in Morrestown (Lenola), NJ where he was a member of the Lenola Emergency Squad. Don lived in Bridgewater, NJ, and Tunkhannock Twp, PA where he was a member of the Albrightsville Fire Company Social Club. He then moved to Rainbow Springs, FL. He spent summers in Cape May, NJ at Seashore Campsites for 40 plus years.
A great man, friend, and mentor and even better father, husband and Pop Pop who enjoyed saltwater fishing, boating, skiing, Nascar, vintage car shows, camping, snowmobiling and motorcycle riding. He was a member of the Cape Classics Motorcycle Club (NJ), the Inverness Elks (FL), and the Inverness Moose (FL).
Don is survived by his wife Martha J. Sowers (nee Vandegrift) of Rainbow Springs, FL; his son Donald R. Sowers Jr. (Cheryl) of Annville, PA; his daughter Barbara Sowers Montgomery (Patrick) of Lexington, SC; his brother Ronald Sowers (Sue) of Cape May, NJ and his two grandchildren Samantha and Madison.
His ashes will be interred at a future date in Arlington National Cemetery where a Celebration of Life will be held.
