
It is with great sadness that the family of Marie E. McAvoy announces her untimely passing on June 14 in The Villages, Florida. Marie was born in Portland, Maine and was a graduate of Deering High School. Prior to her retirement in 2008, she was employed as accounting specialist at Weber Oil and Seafresh, both of Portland. Marie was an active community servant. She served as President of the North Deering Little League where she organized the first girls softball league in Maine. Marie was a scout leader with the Pine Tree Council, Boy Scouts of America where she received the council's most prestigious award for service, the Silver Beaver Award. In The Villages, she was a supervisor for District 3 of the Villages Community Development District, President of the Polo Ridge Social Club, and a Community Emergency Response Team Captain. Marie loved her pets, reading, gardening and long walks on the beach. She leaves behind her brother, Ernest Tony Sylvester of the Villages; her sons, Kevin McAvoy of Gorham, Maine and Keith McAvoy of Windham Maine and their wives and Joseph Gallagher of the Villages her life partner. She was the proud grandmother of six and great grandmother of six. A Celebration of Life in honor of Marie will be held on Sunday, July 29,2018 at 6:00 P.M. at the Laurel Manor Recreation Center, the Villages.
