William Edward Bundy of Clermont, Florida, died November 7, 2019 at the age of 88. Bill was born June 26, 1931 in Decatur, Illinois to the late Adda Irene (Allison) Winn and Paris Devere Bundy. Bill moved with his family to Florida in his early years, and he graduated from Orlando High School in 1949. In 1951, he entered the US Navy’s Submarine Service as a Sonar Tech. After his military service, Bill attended Auburn University, then known as Auburn Polytech, and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1958. After college, Bill worked for Western Electric and Bell Labs as an underwater acoustics specialist. He travelled all over the World to service the US Navy’s submarines. After decades of civil service and private sector work supporting the Navy, Bill became a real estate agent for a few years before retiring.
Bill had many interests. In college, he enjoyed acting with the Auburn Players. Later, he acquired a love for flying and held a Private Pilot’s License and owned an airplane. Bill was a Scuba diver, enjoyed painting and writing, and played tennis.
Bill was a Past Master Mason, Past Worthy Patron in Eastern Star and a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Peggy Ann (Fessler) Bundy; a son, William Eric Bundy (Florida, 51) and his wife, Julia Eileen Bundy; a daughter, Allison Sue (Bundy) Morland (Virginia, 48); five grandchildren, Miranda Bundy, Alexa Bundy, Baily Harrell, William Ethan Bundy, and William Edward Bundy, II (Liam); a niece, Judi Frien and her husband Jim; and Bill’s beloved cat, Stasha Kitty.
Bill was easy going and had friends all over the World. He enjoyed engaging in intellectual discussions with people of all nationalities and backgrounds and learning about other cultures.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Heritage Hills Community Clubhouse, Clermont, Florida.
Instead of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, the ASPCA or a favorite charity.
Bill’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors who took care of him over this past year. Arrangements are made by the National Cremation Society.
