Swaminathan Bhaskar, age 58, passed away on July 3, 2013. Bas, as he liked to be called by his friends, was employed with Mitchell Energy and Development Corporation with 20 years of service. He was recently employed with Pettigrew & Pettigrew Land Services.
Bas came to the United States January 2, 1975, where he earned his accounting degree and master’s degree from the University of Houston. He worked at several jobs before he met Leah. He wasn’t shy about telling his friends that he knew she was the girl he would marry. After a brief courtship, Bas and Leah were married on May 11, 1984, and recently celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary.
Bas was always passionate about sports. He was a skilled athlete in many different sports. He was a champion table tennis player, and was awarded a position on the 1980 U.S. Olympic Table Tennis team. He enjoyed many other sports including tennis and bowling. On weekends, more often than not, you would find him on the golf course. His passion for golf was transferred to his daughter, Brittany, who enjoyed the sport almost as much as he did.
Bas was preceded in death by his father Viswanathan Swaminathan of Mumbai (Bombay) India. Bhaskar was survived by his wife Leah F. Bhaskar, and he was the loving father of Brandon Michael Bhaskar and Brittany Michele Bhaskar. Mr. Bhaskar was also survived by his mother, Lalitha Swaminathan and his sister Vijayalakshmi Suryanarayanan and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephew.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 7¸2013 at Forest Park –The Woodlands from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
