Travis Warren Potter passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, TX. He was born in Harlingen, TX on February 9, 1941. Travis was the son of Travis Ozell and Nellie Mae Clark Potter. Travis moved with his family to Grand Prairie, TX in 1945. On the weekends Travis could often be found at Yellow Belly Drag Strip, racing and working on cars.

Right after high school he moved to Houston, TX and enrolled at the University of Houston and started working at Foley’s in the sporting goods department. He continued racing cars and made many friends throughout the Houston area.

In 1969 he moved to Lecompte (la-count) Louisiana. Travis managed the Western Auto Store. Once again Travis made many lifelong friends while he lived there.

In 1972 he relocated the Western Auto store to Magnolia, TX. He then went to work for Pearland Industries in 1976 working on hollow metal door repairs. Travis was one of only a handful of craftsmen in the trade and his skills were highly sought out throughout the rest of his working life.

In November of 1977 he married Cherry Lynn Ihnken, the love of his life.

Travis is survived by his loving wife Cherryl and children Stephanie Koch, husband Joe, Tory Devore, and wife Jill, brother Gary Potter and wife Karen, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the church or organization of your choice.
