Mary Wyatt

Passed away peacefully at Mackenzie Health on September 25, 2014 in her 88th year. Born August 13, 1927. Eldest daughter to Agnes and Robert Johnston. She and her sisters Roberta and Audrey were the sixth generation to be raised on the family farm in North York. Beloved wife of the late Ronald Arthur Wyatt. Loving mother of Mary Ellen and her husband Gary Jonas, and Bob Wyatt and his partner Joanne Furlong. Dearly missed by her grandchildren Shannon and Julie Jonas, Jerry, Marianne (O'Neil), Christopher (Mandy) and Sarah Wyatt, and great-grandchildren Jaidyn Jonas, Hannah, Sebastian, Alana, Kayla, Andrea, Lillian and Tristan Wyatt. Sadly missed by sisters Roberta (Jim Wise) and Audrey (Larry Long), their children Dan Wise (Frances Phillips), Stacey Long (Sean Taylor), and Amy Long (TJ Dawe), great-niece and nephews Isabelle and Thomas Wise, and Heath and Liam Taylor, and by her furry friend Squeak. Mary attended Zion Public School, and Zion United Church, and later she and Ron attended Newtonbrook United Church. She inspired her students as a primary school teacher in Welland and for nearly 20 years at Wilmington Avenue Public School in North York. Happy years were spent in Welland, Guelph, Agincourt, Willowdale and on the beloved family farm in Zephyr, where she enjoyed time with her horses, cats and dogs. For the past twenty years Mary and Ron lived in their condo overlooking her home base, North York. Her enduring love of learning led her to study Religion, Literature and various languages in different areas of the world, eventually obtaining her BA from the University of Toronto at the age of 56. Visitation will be held at R. S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 5-8pm. Funeral service in the Chapel on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 11am. Cremation. Mary's cremated remains will be interred with her husband Ron at a later date.
