Terry Rainer Ruckstuhl passed away early Sunday, November 22, 2020, at the age of 81 due to complications from COVID-19. Though sickness is what prompted his passing from this earth, he lived a healthful life of deep kindness, abiding faith, and love for his family and friends.
Terry was born in Dayton, Ohio on October 29th, 1939, and is the youngest son of Howard & Eva (Rainer) Ruckstuhl. Terry was a man of sea and air having joined the U.S. Air Force January 10th, 1962, and retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Terry married Sheilla Dawn Summers on June 20th, 1965, in Ogden, Utah. Terry and Sheilla were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 18th, 1977. They spent 55 wonderful years together on this earth.
Terry went on to become a certified welding instructor as well as an A&P mechanic, and he applied his trades working 35 years at Trans World Airlines. He felt at home behind the wheel of any vehicle; from operating large or specialized motor vehicles, to long rides on his motorcycle.
Terry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a high priest in the church, as well as the local church handy-man-- a calling which he enjoyed greatly.
Though his family is heartbroken at his death, they are taking comfort in the knowledge he is now reunited with his parents, brother, Jon, and his grandsons, Tyler Ruckstuhl and Christian Ruckstuhl
Terry was survived by his beloved wife, Sheilla, who followed him in death 8 days later on November 30, 2020. He is survived by their two children, Julie (Ruckstuhl) Thompson and John Ruckstuhl, and their spouses Steven Thompson and Jacqui (Griffin) Ruckstuhl, respectively. He was known as “Pa” to his grandchildren; Hillary (Thompson) Menke, Zachary Thompson, Emma Ruckstuhl, and Ethan Ruckstuhl.
Terry will be remembered for his kind and ready smile, his sweet sense of humor, his loving service to others, and his passion for good work with his hands.
