James Oscar Shamblin has gone home. He was born 96 years ago on May 29,1926 in Calhoun Tn. He passed away in his home in Glendale, Az on Aug.9 , 2022, to the sounds of the classical Country and Western Music that he loved. From his home in Glendale, James went home to his family in Heaven to be reunited, among others, with his parents William and Jennie, and his four sisters, Jewel, Margaret,Ruth and Billy Kathryn. He is survived by his only brother, John Shamblin (wife, Lucille.) Although James ,affectionately called J.O., never married ,he was Uncle to nephews Rodney and Gary Hemphill, William, James and Dana Burnette,and Rodger Shamblin. He also had nieces Sandra Hemphill ,Diana Burnette Holmes, Jennie Burnette Stone, Stacey Shamblin Gregory and Natalie Shamblin Hochstetler. From these eleven, J.O. has become uncle to three additional generations of nieces and nephews to treasure his memory. He always enjoyed our huge family gatherings when he got to see how many generations surrounded him here in his adopted home of Arizona .In the early 1950s,J.O. came with his parents and settled in Glendale, where along with his father, became caretaker and groundskeeper of Glendale Memorial Cemetery when it was still a private cemetery They both continued to work there when it became part of The City of Glendale Parks Department in 1962. After being in their employ for 27 years, James retired at the age of 63 in 1989. James was a longtime member of Vineyard Church in Glendale, where the favorite part of his week was the greetings of his fellow parishioners who were always so happy to see his smile and shining blue eyes. We will always remember you Uncle, with laughter and smiles. May you Rest in Peace in the Arms of Our Lord And Family.
