Obituary of Helen Cuttingham
Berkeley - Helen Cuttingham, 95, passed away at her home in Berkeley on Thursday, May 12, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born in Jersey City, she resided there for most of her life prior to settling in the Silver Ridge community of Berkeley in 1997. Helen placed her high school education on hold to help her ailing parents and began her career at New Jersey Bell in Jersey City. Upon having children, she focused her time at home with her family. She later returned to work at the Department of Agriculture in Newark. Helen transferred to a racing commission at the Meadowlands racetrack and ended her career at AT&T in Rochelle Park in 1990. While at AT&T, she became a proud member of the Pioneers, a volunteer organization of the company. She was predeceased by parents, Allan and Elizabeth Grandy (nee Kearney); and by her brother, Joseph Grandy. Surviving are her daughters: Kathleen Cuttingham and Helen Griffin; her grandsons: Eric and Ian; and her great-grandson, Alex. A kind and selfless woman, Helen had many friends throughout her life; some were engaged by her pleasant and personable nature from her working years, and others stemmed from her teenage years. She was deeply loved and will be missed by many. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 12PM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Berkeley. Interment will immediately follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
