Hoeppe C.Ss.R., Fr. Karl Entered eternal life on June 11, 2014 at the age of 84 at Humber River Regional Hospital in Toronto. Born on Apr 26, 1930 in Grulich (Czech Rep), son of Karl and Emma Hoeppe (nee Schwarzer). He is survived by sisters Emmi (Gregor Zehe) and Anni (Horst Reimann). Fr. Karl entered the Novitiate of the Redemptorists in Gars Germany in 1950, and was ordained a priest in 1956. For 8 years, Fr. Karl worked in Germany teaching in the juvenate, vocational and high schools, as well as serving as associate pastor. On Sept 1, 1966, Fr. Karl came to Canada to serve St. Patrick’s German Parish in Toronto. For almost 50 years, Fr. Karl has served the German-speaking Catholic community in Toronto with much love and devotion, and has continued to graciously provide pastoral service at St. Patrick’s well into retirement. Friends and parishioners are invited to make visitation on Saturday, June 14, 6 pm, with Vigil Prayers at 7 pm at St. Patrick’s Church (131 McCaul Street). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sunday, June 15, the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, at St. Patrick’s Church, 10 a.m. (regular Sunday German Mass). Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery on Monday, June 16, 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “St. Patrick’s Church” for the Kolping Society Donation Funds. He will be fondly remembered for his pastoral leadership, compassion and delightful spirit; ever present to the lives of those he has had the privilege to serve. Für immer in unseren Herzen!
