Phai was born on the family farm in Steele County Minnesota on April 25, 1925, to Cecil and Alma Randall. She was the oldest of four siblings - Phai, Betty, Oliver and Ralph. She graduated from Ellendale High School & Mankato Teacher's College. Phai taught school for 2 years and then took a trip of a lifetime. In the spring of 1946, she accompanied her Aunt Ellen Thomas and her 2 young children, George & Sue, on a road trip to California. She decided to stay in California and began working at a Law Office in Burbank. She met the love of her life, Clifford Trezise that same year and they were married in September 1948. In late 1948, Phai began working for the Torrance Unified School District as the Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools where she worked for 42 years. She loved her job and worked primarily under 3 different Superintendents, Ed Richardson, Arnold Plank & Lloyd Jones. Cliff was a lifelong resident of Torrance, CA and they resided in Torrance until their passing. Their lives were filled with family, friends, adventure, world travel, cruises, Las Fiestadores Dance Club events, the theater, museums, art galleries, entertaining, cooking, baking, reading, bridge, Retired Teachers' Assoc., laughter, love and helping others. It speaks volumes that Cliff & Phai were Godparents to 20+ children. Cliff passed away in June of 2010. Phai moved into Welbrook Assisted Living in Torrance in 2015 and loved her apartment, the staff, outings, movies, special events, but especially the dear friends she made there and lifelong friends who also lived there.
She greeted each and every day with a smile on her beautiful face, happiness in her generous heart and the knowledge in her mind that she had lived a very full life, with absolutely no regrets. She loved unconditionally those fortunate enough to be a part of her life. She will be joining her husband Clifford Trezise,
their infant son and many family members & friends who preceded her in death. She will be missed.
There will be a Memorial Service held at the Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary downtown Torrance on March 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. It was Phai's wish, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Torrance Education Foundation at P.O. Box 1397, Torrance, CA 90505.
