Sister Allene Lucille Jackson was born on May 31, 1948 in Coleman, Texas to David and Blanche Jackson. She was a twin, so she was given the name “Repete”. After the death of her mother, at the age of 12, she relocated to Tucson, Arizona where she was raised by her aunt Florence Young.
Allene attended John Springs Junior High School and later graduated from Tucson Magnet High School in 1968, therefore that makes her “A Badger for life! After high school she attended Lampson Business College where she received a business certificate. On June 1, 1969, she married Elbert Lee Jones, Sr. and later had two lovely children Tonya Shamange Jones and Elbert Lee Jones, Jr.
Allene began working for Mountain Bell in 1973 as a service clerk/load specialist. They gave her the nickname “AJ”. In 2003 she retired from Qwest, formally known as Mountain Bell. After retiring, her calling was to continue helping others. She became a caregiver at Arcadia Staffing Agency and Visiting Angels Assisted Living. She loved children and wanted to give them a stable and nurturing living environment therefore she became a foster parent for over 10 years. She had many nicknames: “Momma Jones, Peewee, ReeRee, Pete, GaGa, and Wild Thang “. She had a heart of gold. She never turned anyone away. She was a woman of God and her main mission in life was to bless and love unconditionally.
Over 25 years, her and two of her sisters, (Three Sisters Café) sold tacos and catfish plates at community everts such as Juneteenth, MLK Festival and Tucson Meet Yourself. She worked on the Honoring Christian Soldiers Prayer Breakfast Committee and love and respected the A-Mountain COGIC Mother’s Board. Throughout her living years she attended Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She actively participated in the choir, the women’s mission, noon day bible study, and visited the sick and shut in.
On October 11, 2018, God reached out his hand and called her to his heavenly home. She will be forever remembered by her husband of 49 years, Elbert Jones, Sr. Her four children, Natalia Woodson of Lubbock, Texas, Vanessa Baker (Leon Baker) of San Antonio, Texas, Tonya and Elbert Jones Jr of Tucson, Arizona. She will be remembered by her siblings; Emmett Payne (Maryann), Ernest Jackson, Darrell Warrick (Celia), Dwight Holloway (Carrie) of Coleman, Texas, Tina Jackson and Joe McCrary (Faith) of California, Charles Payne (Linda), Jo Alice Payne, Allen “Pete” Jackson, Cherry Jackson, Cheryl Ann Bassey (Emmanuel) and Debra Howard of Tucson, Arizona. Grandchildren; Kendra, Kedrick, Janisia, Sydney, and Lamarion and one great grandchildren; Kip Jr and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends and a host of extended family members.
Sister Allene Lucille Jones is Proceeded in death by her mother and father, David and Blanche Jackson, sister Joy Benjamin (John) and daughter Sherri Hendricks and a host of extended family.
