Phyllis was born in Bottineau, North Dakota on March 5th, 1937, to Lloyd and Alice Ewers, the youngest of five children. She grew up in Lansford, N.D. before moving to Minot to attend secretarial school.
Phyllis met and married her husband Richard in 1959 and they moved first to Fargo, then later to Aurora, Illinois where they raised their two children, Greg and Terri. Phyllis was a homemaker but would often go to work to help out when things got lean. Phyllis was a Brownie/Girl Scout leader as well as a Den Mother/Scout leader. She was involved in all of the kid's activities and raised them with a strong sense of family and community.
In 1971, the family relocated to Tucson, Arizona when Richard accepted a transfer with Montgomery Ward. When he retired, he and Phyllis traveled together, and as time went on she began to take trips of her own. Her love of travel and good food and friendships were passed down to her daughter and grandchildren. She recently returned from her 18th cruise, and she loved nothing better than being on the ocean. She loved to laugh, danced on the tables from time to time, and created a circle of special friends and extended family. Her death will leave a huge void to all that knew her.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Terri, grandchildren David (Kristin) Petz, Justin Harnage, and Kimberly (Nick) Breton, and great grandchildren Anthony, Liam, Isabella, Liliana, and Connor, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Richard, son Gregory, and granddaughters Ann Petz Gonzalez and Sheridan Fraccaro, parents Lloyd and Alice (Thomas) Ewers, and siblings Bill, Don, and Duane Ewers, and Edyth (Knodel) Ewers.
Memorial and Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2nd from 1:00-3:00 at Eaat Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 East Grant Road, 85712
A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at Murphy's Public House located at 140 S Kolb Rd, Tucson 85710.
