Virginia was born on June 22, 1933 to Leslie and Elsie (Breckenridge) Prentiss in Tucson, AZ. The youngest of 6, she was a Tucson native through and through, graduating from Tucson High and growing her family in the Old Pueblo.
She was lucky enough in life to find love twice. She married Fred Stewart and later on married Ed Grzybowski, both of whom preceded her in death. Virginia was blessed with a large family and was incredibly loved by her children Jeanne Bazz, Sheryl Lynn Adams, Michael Stewart (deceased), Karen Shoaf (Guy), Mary Grzybowski, Edward Grzybowski (Chele), and Nancy Caho (Earl, deceased).
She was a source of joy for her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
While small in stature, Virginia was giant in heart and soul. Her joy, laugh, and spirit could fill up the canyons of Arizona. She had a zest for life that was unparalleled, could roast you and make you cry from laughing in the same minute, would go on an adventure or try something new with a smile on her face, and truly enjoyed every single day she had on this Earth with the wonder and carefree abandon of a child.
She made sure everyone she met felt loved and cared for. She had a sharp sense of humor, loved to sing and dance, and simply enjoyed being around the people she loved. She was happiest with a cup of tea on the table, a cookie in her hand, and her family and friends from Udall around her.
Virginia is now dancing with her Mamma and Daddy, her siblings, and her husband and would want nothing more than for those who knew her to live intentionally with joy and wonder.
Virginia leaves behind a legacy of laughter and a Grand Canyon-sized hole in our hearts. We are all happier, better people having known her and loved her.
