Larry, Danny, Donovan, and Lorraine,
my deepest, sincerest condolences. Your mom had the best sense of humor of all Nancy's uncles and aunts I've ever met. Sly, sharp and witty....Leona had a laugh that was infectious, you couldn't help but laugh yourself. But, I'll never forget how tightly she hugged me after I officiated Jackie's funeral. I could feel her strength, her love......and her pain. She loved this poem I wrote for my grandmother and read that day. It's only right that i share it for her. But it sure feels like I've had to send this out too many times this year...I hope it brings a bit of comfort. I love you guys....
God Bless...…

Do not mourn excessively,
And, please, do not weep,
Just as it is with all men,
This, too, was meant to be.

You may cry for your loss,
But shed no tears for mine.
I leave this temporary, mortal life
To live for all of time.

Instead, strive to be happy,
And smile through your grief,
As you know,
Time heals all wounds,
This pain will be brief.

Let me tread that final leg,
I’ve traveled oh so far,
The road after death is easy,
It’s the path of life that’s hard.

Celebrate and rejoice with me,
When all is said and done,
I pass from this demanding, painful world
To a divine, celestial one.

All your cherished memories
In your heart now safely keep,
And know that I can feel your thoughts,
When you remember me.

Forever trust in your God,
Have faith and do believe,
And I’ll save a piece of Heaven for you
When, at last, you come join me.

Leona became my friend about 45 years ago a few years later she married my brother and became my family. Throughout the years we did silly and fun stuff and most definitely adventurous stuff. We shared good memories with laughter and sad memories with tears and hugs. Lee's children and mine grew up together creating amazing happiness for both of us. Lee I love you and you will always be in my thoughts.

I’m glad for the short time we had. We had many laughs, I so miss her.

I always thought Aunt Leona was the cutest little woman, adorable and sweet and feisty. I was thrilled when she married my Uncle Bob and I got to claim her as my aunt. My favorite memory of her was when she had the pet deer, she even let it walk into her house. I thought she was the coolest person ever ... I was just a kid then and I couldn't wait to go to her house whenever possible so I could see that deer. Good memories. Next favorite memory is shopping trips with Aunt Leona and my Mom when I was in my 20s, we sure had fun, us girls. I love you Aunt Leona. Til we meet again ♥

Everyone was at Grandma and Grandpa Walkers, Bob and Leona weren't married yet, but we were all outside cuttin' up. It was a great time. I also remember when you all still lived in Kansas, I was either latter part of grade school or in junior high., my dad was away working. Aunt Barb, Aunt Leona, my Mom, Peggy and I were dancing in the front room! Aunt Leona could dance!
