Margaret J. Kolze
December 6, 1925 – August 4, 2018
Margaret Josephine (Boylan) Kolze of Olympia, WA, passed away on August 4, 2018. She was 92. Margaret was born in Tacoma Washington in 1925 to Archibald and Francis Boylan. Her family moved to Shelton where Arch was the head sawyer at the Simpson Mill. She met her future husband, William Kolze, at a USO dance in Olympia while he was serving in the Navy during WWII. They married in 1946 and were married for 68 years until his death in 2014.
Margaret and Bill had four children and raised their family on Holmes Island on Long Lake in Lacey. She was a stay at home Mom until her children were all in school then worked for the North Thurston School district as a cook for many years.
She loved to travel, both camping locally with tent and trailer and trips to both Ireland and the Holy Land. She was an active member in the local Catholic Church and at one time was the President of the St. Jude’s Guild where she started the Bingo program at RooLan which continues to this day.
She is preceded in death by her brothers Bernard and Clarence and her sister Francis. She is survived by her sons, Glenn Kolze of Fremont, CA and Jack Kolze of Vancouver, WA and her daughters Gloria Callaghan of Aberdeen, WA and Nita Kolze of Hoquiam, WA. She also left behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
