Wilma was born on July 23, 1924 in Weir, Mississippi to Joe and Mavis King. She graduated from Weir High School in 1943. She met and married Ben Allford in 1946 and moved to Tuscaloosa to start a family. She received her LPN license from Shelton Technical School in 1960 and eventually was employed by the Tuscaloosa VA Hospital. In 1965, her husband, Ben, died. Subsequently, she met and married Wade Manning. After retiring from the VA in 1989, and the passing of Wade, she moved to Texas to be near her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She spent her last three years at Bedford Residence Assisted Living in Houston, TX.
She loved all her family and took such joy in them. She will always be their “Granny”. To her nieces and nephews, she will always be their “Aunt Wilma”. We were so blessed that she was in our lives. We will miss her always but will see her again. She is having a great reunion in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
