Bud David Zollinger, age 94, passed away April 4, 2018, in Salt Lake City. Bud was born May 3, 1923, in Hansen, Idaho, the ninth child of John and Jenevieve Zollinger.

Bud graduated from Wendell High School. He was voted “Most Likely to Succeed.” He attended Utah State University, but was drafted into the Army Air Force. He was the first 19-year-old to be drafted from Gooding County.
While Bud was stationed at Ellington Field in Texas, he went to a soldiers’ dance where he met his future wife, Francis. They were married at Bud’s parents’ home in Wendell, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
After the War, Bud and Francis moved to Wendell where Bud managed Zitlau Motors until 1960 when the family moved to Rupert, Idaho, and Bud became a representative for Metropolitan Life.
While living in Wendell, Bud and Francis had two children, Susan and Robert, who they loved very much and devoted their lives to.
After living in Rupert for 21 years, Bud and Francis moved to Oregon for a few years and then settled in Twin Falls in 1983.

Bud and Frances became my adopted family in Rupert. My second parents. They loved me as one of their own and were responsible for my activation in the church. That has meant so much to me and my family. Susan and I were very close and Bobby was the annoying little brother that we put up with and loved. To say I love this family is a great understatement. Rest in peace to a truly great man. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I loved getting to know your family when we were in Jr. High. Your parents were always very welcoming and kind, even though the projects we worked on probably made them crazy. Loved your parents smiles. Remember the good times and pass them on to your children and grands.
