OBITUARY

Cruz Silva Herrera Jr.

April 10, 1956August 4, 2018

After a year-long battle with lung cancer, Cruz Herrera passed away peacefully at home among family on August 4, 2018 in Twin Falls, ID.

Cruz, “Cachie” as he was known by family and friends, was born on April 10, 1956 in Mathis, Texas, to father Cruz Herrera Sr, and mother Ramona Silva, who have predeceased him. Cachie grew up in a large, loving family. He is survived by his two brothers, Fernando (Balvina) Rodriguez, Victoriano Jr. (Chris) Rodriguez, his three sisters, Herminia (Cecilio) Gonzales, Elena DeLeon, Elvira (Alfredo) Medrano, and his many beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was married to Betty Leyba in 1998 and they were later divorced.

When he was diagnosed with lung cancer, Cachie remained positive in his will to fight his illness. He remained brave and strong-willed, even throughout his final months.

Cachie was a free spirit soul, with a great love and dedication for music and family. He started playing the drums in the early 70’s with the band “Suavecito”, and then finally joining “La Familia Mexicana” band in the 80’s alongside his brother, nieces and nephews. He played his final set on June 10th at a gathering of family and friends.

A rosary prayer service will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Avenue East, Twin Falls, Idaho. Cachie will be cremated and his ashes will be interred near his mother Ramona at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date.

Services are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Twin Falls.
