Edward A. Moore

TWIN FALLS • Edward A. Moore was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Beaver Falls, Pa., to immigrants Joseph and Mary Moore. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at 5:27 p.m. in Twin Falls, Idaho, with his son, David, and daughter, Dolly, by his side. Ed was an ardent patriot and graduated high school early to join the Navy, where he served in the South Pacific during World War II. He sacrificed an opportunity to attend the Julliard School in New York, where he would have studied piano, in order to serve his country. When he returned home from war, he was delighted to see a childhood friend, Dee Dee, had blossomed into a beautiful young woman, and they were married two weeks later. Ed was married to the love of his life for 62 years. Ed had a 20-year career in the Navy, and he always said Dee was the best Navy wife any man could ever have. After retiring from the Navy, Ed worked at NSWSES (Naval Ship/Surface Weapons Systems Engineering Station) in Port Hueneme, Calif. Ed retired from his civil service job with NSWSES and worked for Raytheon, RCA and GE on government contracts. After Ed and Dee retired they moved to Lancaster, Calif., to enjoy the dry desert climate. Ed loved the Lord and taught senior Sunday school classes at the Lancaster New Life Church of the Nazarene. In 2006, they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, to live closer to their children. Ed had a wonderful sense of humor and celebrated his 88th birthday wearing a silly birthday hat, laughing and making noise with a party favor. The last three years of Ed’s life, he was on a home hemodialysis program with his daughter, Dolly, acting as his private tech. Ed and Dolly were always close, but they developed an especially close bond from spending so much time together. Ed is survived by his five children: David (Stephanie) Moore of Twin Falls, Idaho, Ken (Patricia Cooney) Moore of Berkeley, Calif., Ed Jr. (Cathie Bruce) of San Francisco, Dolly (Mark) Haines of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Marymartha (Bobby) Bell of Gooding, Idaho. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; his brother, George (Maxine) Moore of Michigan; his sister, Violet (Sis) Powell of Florida; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his loyal feline companion, Spike. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Dee in 2007; his grandson, Harold Moore of Michigan; and great-grandson, Logan of Germany. Ed wanted to thank the following people: Dr. John Baker, Dr. David Johnson, Dr. Chris Scholes, Dr. Scott Allan, Dr. Gregory Ball, Janet Anderson RN, Dr. Craig Holman, Dr. Nagraj Narasimhin and the folks from Idaho Home Health and Hospice: Fernette Turner; Jon Baker from Norco; and Jason RN. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1231 Washington St. N. in Twin Falls. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave E. in Twin Falls.
