Jose Boy Alcala

August 6, 1976March 10, 2012

Jose was born August 6, 1976 to Jose and Carmen Alcala, in Burley Idaho. As a young boy Jose was shy, quiet, and playful. He loved to play with toy John Deere tractors and make little farms in the dirt with perfectly groomed fields. He took great care of all of his belongings. He placed his toys back in their original box every time he was done playing with them. Jose was surrounded by little girls growing up so he was nicknamed “Boy”, which everyone still called him. His family liked to go camping. He talked about helping his dad milk the cow as a boy and how he cried everyday because he wanted to go to work with his dad. Jose was very close to his sisters. Family was always very important to him. Jose’s mother loved to cook him his favorite meals and Jose enjoyed eating at her house often. He would always have a pepsi with his meal. Jose attended school in Murtaugh from kindergarten until he graduated in 1994. While he was in school Jose was in the FFA, played on the football team and basketball team. He was very social and loved being around his friends and playing with the neighbor kids. He even got to ride some of their dirt bikes before he had his own. Jose had a great love to dirt bikes and motocross and started racing in high school. He took Kari every weekend with him to the races and they shared countless memories there. He always shared memories of great teachers he had and the influence they had on his life. Thank you Mrs. Kelly, Mr. Winn, and Mrs. Crystal for all you did, he loved sharing how wonderful you were to him. After Jose graduated he worked at Kimberly Nurseries where he met some wonderful people and made lifelong friends. Not long after Jose started up a business of his own called “Your Reliable Gardner.” With his natural entrepreneur skills, his business grew fast. In 1999 he renamed his business as “Excel Landscaping.” Jose was smart and witty, a master at everything he did. Go big or go home he would often say. If he was told or shown how to do something once, that was all that was needed. Jose was always striving to Excel in everything he did. If he was going to do something than it would be nothing less than the best. Jose was married to Kari Denney in 1999 at St. Edwards Catholic Church. Jose was Kari’s high school sweetheart and the love of her life. His unique personality and zest for life will always be remembered. He could make her laugh until she cried and always shared funny jokes and stories with her every day. He gave her so much love and comfort, and not to mention the entertainment. Jose and Kari have four beautiful and loving children. Ezekiel 13, Josh 11, Alex 8, and Jose Tucker 16 months. When Ezekiel was 4 years old Jose purchased a Yamaha PW 50 for him and off to the dirt bike track they went. Jose ran by his side as he raced around the track. Jose shared his love for motocross with Josh at the age of 3 ½ and soon after he was racing around the track on the same PW 50 Zeke road. When Alex turned five Jose got out the PW 50 and showed him he could ride just like his brothers. Jose’s energy and joy for life was born into each one of his boys. Jose loved his family and friends unconditionally. Jose loved his nieces and nephews and was especially close to his nephew Brice. He also loved Preston and thought of him as a son. Jose lived everyday to fullest. He loved staying active. He worked hard, he played hard, he loved hard. Everyone knew Jose as a kind and generous person. He would help out anyone in need and was never worried about a friendly loan to be repaid. Jose had many friends and was loved by family, friends, and had many business relationships. Jose enjoyed many duck and goose hunting trips with his boys on the river and in the field. He loved to take them riding on their dirt bikes in the summer and riding on their snowmobiles in the winter. Jose coached the 5th and 6th grade boys basketball team over the last few years for Zeke and then Josh. He really enjoyed that special time he got to share with his kids and their friends. He enjoyed wake boarding, snowboarding, skateboarding, and many others sports. Jose had a great love for his business and took pride in everything he did. He would always load up the kids and Kari and drive around to look at the finished project. Zeke, Josh, and Alex will treasure the times they worked for their dad and all that he taught them about responsibility and hard work and pass that onto little Jose Tucker. Jose’s dad worked with him every day and always put the perfect finishing touch. Omar has also been a wonderful employee but most of all friend to Jose. Jose had wonderful employee’s and without them business would have never been possible. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to him. Not a day went by where Jose wasn’t on the phone for hours teasing his friends and sharing stories about his eventful days. He had a nickname for everyone and a laugh that was contagious. We will sure miss that smile and laugh. Jose is survived by his wife Kari and his children, Ezekiel, Josh, Alex and Jose of Murtaugh; his parents, Jose and Carmen, also of Murtaugh; sisters Carmen Alcala and Belia (Shane) Stastny of Murtaugh, and several nieces and nephews Thank you Jose for all your love and kindness, but most of all, the wonderful memories.
