Larry Lee McMurdie

June 24, 1935June 24, 2018

Larry Lee McMurdie was born on June 24, 1935 in Castleford, Idaho to Rulon and Venna McMurdie. He passed on June 24, 2018 after the circle of life was complete. He was raised in Buhl, Idaho. He graduated from high school in 1953, excelling in track and football. After high school he joined the US Army 3rd Division/ 3rd Army Pvt 1, specializing in heavy weapons Infantryman. He was honorably discharged in January, 1957. He was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia and that is where he met the love of his life, a Southern belle named Lucinda E. Farmer (Betty Lou) on a blind date. They were married 49 years. To this union, 4 daughters were born, Julie (Shane) Klundt, Patti Keene, Lori McMurdie and Theresa Tamez. After being discharged, Larry attended college at BYU, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in sales management. He spent his entire working years in automotive sales and management positions in the Magic Valley and Cassia areas. If you had an uncle or grandfather who bought a car there, there is a good chance Larry sold it to them. He loved to hunt and fish and attend his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. He got extreme pleasure watching them excel. Larry is survived by his daughters Julie, Patti and Theresa; brother Wayne (Betty) McMurdie, to whom he was very close until the end; 11 grandchildren, 24 and a half great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Kay, sister Nadean, daughter Lori, and his wife & “Sweetie” Lucinda (Betty Lou). A special thanks to a special friend, Ron Woodall who came and stayed to visit him up until the end; to the staff of Syringa Place who went way above the call to care for him. We appreciate all you did to make him feel he had a home with people and friends who really cared. You became like family. May you be at peace. Until we meet again, we love you Daddy. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held as a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the West End Cemetery in Buhl. Military honors by the Magic Valley Honor Guard and Idaho National Guard. Services are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Twin Falls. Condolences may be left for the family by visiting

My thoughts and prayers are with you girls on the passing of your Dad. I remember him being kind and somewhat quiet but maybe because I was a noisy little kid when I knew him. This really hit home for me as my Dad passed on his birthday on June 23rd and they were exactly the same age. However, it was 24 years ago and 10 years after my Mom passed. It's difficult not to have your parents but you are so very fortunate to have them as long as you did. I can't even imagine my parents being 83 years old so I hope both didn't suffer and know that they are together again. Please stay close to each other, as sisters, because family is everything. With Love and Sympathy, Kaylyn Petersen
