Mom’s service was this past Tuesday November 26th. I really wanted to get up and say a few things but I knew I’d never make it through. So I’m putting my thoughts down here along with a nostalgic photo.
Our Mother was a woman that was greatly shaped by a tragic event early in her life. At the tender age of almost 10 in 1940 she lost her big brother Hiram Luther Jr. her two baby sisters Lois Fern and Florene and her Mother Callie Orene in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. Thankfully she along with her Father and her big sister Irmadine survived. However she grieved this loss until her last day.
I feel this shaped her in a way to hold on tight to all the people and things that she loved most. She was a very loving Mother and loved us fiercely all of our lives. In her eyes we were perfect. She taught me what it was to be a mother but she also taught me how important it was to let my children grow and become independent kind and loving human beings.

She gave me two brothers that I am so grateful for. This past 2 weeks have been difficult but were also an important bonding experience for me with my brothers.
In her final days she was so happy to have us all together and I know we will continue our bond as siblings the way she wished for us. She is our glue and that is unbreakable.
Thank you to everyone for the kindness and condolences.
Thank you to those that made the special effort to be at her graveside service just 2 days before Thanksgiving. Love to you all. My heart is full.

In the photo Mom is in the front her baby sisters are on her mothers lap her brother Jr. is on the left and her grandmother is on the right and her sister Irmadine is on the far right.

On November 22nd we lost our Momma. She lived to see her 90th Birthday and fortunately Terry, Laren and I were able to be there to celebrate with her. It was a good day. She was happy and smiling the entire time ❤️ Less than a month later we were back. This time to say goodbye.
I feel so grateful that I was able to spend the last week with her. Terry, Laren and I were there all together and she told us how happy she was to have us all her kids together again. She talked about saying goodbye and how much she loved us and we told her the same. I was lucky enough to be holding her hand as she passed and kiss her one last time. As the nurse recorded time of death the church bells rang outside and she was home.

I will forever be grateful for the Love and care that my brother Terry gave to Mom in her latter years. She lived next door to him in a house he helped build for her and when she could no longer live there he was at the nursing home everyday to make sure she was ok and well cared for.

Laren and I spent a good portion of the evening on the 22nd looking through her photos and reminiscing over our childhood. We laughed and divided up a lot of the pictures that we will cherish for many years to come. Mom loved taking photos and always wished she could have been a professional photographer. It was a nice way to end the day remembering her and reconnecting.

I’m so grateful to have my brothers ❤️

The Barrett’s were my neighbors for years, Susan (daughter) has always been my all time best friend, she hung out with me, let me go places with her...dragging Broadway, El Sombrero scarfing down bean & cheese nachos & let me go to lunch with her & the other Senior girls when I was just a Sophomore. I cherish her! Mom Barrett would be at her table/desk area “doing the books” when I’d come over & I loved seeing her at Wyatt’s Cafeteria, where she worked, she was so kind to me...will miss visiting you at the nursing home & thanks again for my cheerleading pic you gave me last year! There are many memories, won’t fit on here 😊God Bless ❤️
