Mrs. DeFluri and family,

Ellen and I send our condolences on the loss of Mr. DeFluri. I have fond memories of tailgating with the family at football games at West Point, enjoying Mr. DeFluri's wine and eating spaghetti. It was such a nice break from the routine of the Academy and I was treated like family. I also had the pleasure of visiting the family at your house, and experiencing the lovely hospitality provided by you and Mr. DeFluri. This was also a wonderful break to have home cooked meals, which was not as common an opportunity for us West Coast cadets as it was for Peter and Paul.
Words cannot lessen the loss of a life long partner, but I hope you are comforted in knowing that I, and many others, have been graced by having known your husband, and share in some small measure your loss.
