William Jones, 77, of Chester, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at his home. He was born April 16, 1941 in Van Buren to the late Charlie and Hester Jones. He was a retired mechanic with the Crawford County Highway Department, loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Phelps, Betty DeShazio, Gertrude Byrd, and Emma “Sissy” Woodard; and three brothers, Bill, Martin, and Bobby Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jones of the home; four daughters, Betty Bentley and husband Runt of Cedarville, Tammy Earnhart and husband Gary of Van Buren, Margie Selman and husband Dwight of Chester, and Sheila Strickland and husband Lee of Cedarville; a brother, L.C. Jones of Alma; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and was blessed with an abundance of friends.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Dyer Cemetery Arbor, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Runt Bentley, Lee Strickland, Dwight Selman, Gary Earnhart, Chris Marion, and Ricky Lee Jones, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family will visit with friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
