Antonios Hadzis

It is with deep sadness that the family of Antonios (Tony) Hadzis announces his passing. He was born on February 19, 1929 and peacefully passed away on November 21, 2019 in Vancouver BC. Tony is survived and will be dearly missed by his loving wife Maria, his daughter Tina and her husband Spiro, and his granddaughters Gianna and Marika. He also leaves behind his sister Voula and numerous family and friends. Antonios was pre-deceased by his parents Christos and Kostantina Hadzis. He was born and raised in Gargalianoi, Messinia, Greece. He served in the Greek police force in Athens and Lakonia. His met his future wife Maria and they married in 1964. They went together and worked in Munich, Germany where their daughter Tina was born in 1967. In 1968, the family moved again to start their new life in Vancouver. Tony found work in the construction industry and they enjoyed spending time with their many friends in the Greek Community. Tony saw the marriage of his daughter and the birth of his two granddaughters who he adored. After working many years as a driver in the film industry, Tony retired and him and Maria thoroughly enjoyed spending their summers in Greece. Tony will be deeply missed.

Tony’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Arbutus Care Home for their care and kindness.

Prayers will be held on Tuesday November 26, 2019, at 7:00pm at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and the funeral will be on Wednesday November 27, 2019 at 12:00pm with Father Odisseys Drossos officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony’s name can be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Vancouver, BC.
