It is with great sadness we advise Harvey Joseph Andrew passed away on September 7, 2019 at Squamish General. Harvey descends from Squamish Nation’s Kwenaxten (AKA Andrew) / Jack family and Tla'amin First Nation (formerly Sliammon First Nation) Timothy / Harry families. Harvey was born to his parents Chief Alvie Andrew and Bernadette (nee Harry) on June 4, 1937 and was raised on Siyí7ch’em Indian Reserve . He attended Sechelt Indian Residential School, Brackendale Elementary and Howe Sound Secondary. As a young man he used to hunt and fish with his dad and really loved to travel. He became a logger man and got to travel to Auburn, Wa. Right up the coast on Vancouver Island and up to Queen Charlotte Islands. Harvey was loved in the Squamish community by his peers and can best be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and fun laughter. Harvey was known as loving family man and care giver. In 1983 he married his love Patricia Herrling and cared deeply for their children and grandchildren from the Jimmy family at Squiala First Nation.

Harvey is survived by his sisters Chief Eleanor ‘Alana’ Andrew and Theresa Herrling; step children Allan Jimmie (Noreen), Gwen Osterberg, Alvin Jimmie (Yvette), Julie George (Mike), Joan Jimmie and Louise Jimmie; special niece Naomi Cayou; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loving relative and dear friends.
