OBITUARY

Dolores Mary (Gumowski) Tardio

June 13, 1930November 4, 2020

On November 4th, Dolores passed away peacefully at the Brookdale Retirement Home in Vancouver, Washington of natural causes. Beloved wife of Harry (deceased). Daughter of Tyburcyusz and Stephanie (Wisniewski) Gumowski. Mother of Jimmy (deceased) and Sonny (Joseph). Mother in law of Libby. Aunt to Butch Tardio, Chris Tardio, Julie King, Patty Tardio, Ella Gallo, Butch Kowiatek, Denise Kowiatek (deceased), Bruce Kowiatek, Sally Tardio (deceased) and Peggy Cryster. Grandmother of James, Damien, Heather, Angela, Joey, Matthew, Andrea, Brad, Amanda, David and Travis. Great grandmother of many. Dolores was a virtuoso musician earning two offers for the concertmaster violinist position in two different symphonies at the age of eighteen. She was given a violin made by the master violin maker Vuillaume of Paris. The violin dates back to about 1830. Her teacher gave it to her because he said he could never make it sound as good as she could. She gave up a musical career to marry Harry Tardio. In 1948 women were usually stay at home moms, but Dolores worked as a bank teller and telephone operator until the birth of her first son. The symphonies involved moving to other cities and didn't work out. Dolores was always upbeat. When her son, Jimmy, died at the age of 16, she and Harry brought foster children into their lives. One of them, Frank Morrone, only lost touch with her a few years ago. He always called her, "Mom". She sent birthday cards, Christmas cards, anniversary cards and any card you can think of to everyone to stay in touch. She wrote hundred of letters, too. She always gave children McDonald's cards or money. She was an extremely kind and gentle person. She helped many people financially. She will be missed by every single person who knew her without exception. God rest her soul.
