George Franklin Treon

George F. Treon, age 78 of Versailles, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 7:10 AM at the Versailles Health Care Center. Born in Versailles on January 23, 1941 he was one of 4 children to the late Herman & Alma (Marshal) Treon. George had worked for, and retired from General Motors, Inland Division as a foreman. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio. George was a Golden Eagle and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2347, Versailles. He was a former volunteer firefighter for Versailles Fire Department. George enjoyed spending time at his retirement home in Alpena, Michigan, where he also liked to go mushroom hunting. He enjoyed the outdoors; cutting wood, fishing, gardening and working in the flower beds. More than anything he loved spending time with his family. He will truly be missed. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son Bernard Treon: granddaughter Kerri Murphy: brothers-in-laws Ron Dirksen; Larry Goffena. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon (Goffena) Treon, whom he married September 16, 1961: children Frank & Jenny Treon; Kim & Terry Murphy: grandchildren Michael Treon; Kelsey Treon; Donald & Ashley Brocious; Thomas Murphy; William Murphy: 1 great-grandchild on the way: siblings David & Rosie Treon; Emma & Russ Scott; Marilyn Dirksen: sister-in-law Barb Goffena. Friends may call on the family on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 5:00 PM- 8:00 PM at the Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. There will be a brief prayer service starting at 7:30 PM with Fr. Our thoughts and prayers are with George's family and friends. George was my neighbor in Alpena and I will miss him very much. He was always thoughtful and helpful. The neighborhood will not be the same. Miss you George!

Dear family, you have my deepest sympathy. I had enjoyed laughing with George through out the years. Always glad to see him coming into the Sweet Shop or Sideliners. He always had a new joke to tell me. He'll be sadly missed by so many. Thanks George for leaving fond memories to us all.

I'm so sorry I did not realize you were sick George. You will be forever missed by all of us at the woodenspoon.. George was a wonderful handyman. . He was always helping us out fixing something . You were a great friend .He was always good to us girls and treated us so kind. My heart goes out to all of the family and Sharon. If there's anything we can do to help Sharon please keep us in mind.
