Udham Kaur Chauhan
June 10, 1933 – October 1, 2021
On June 10, 1933, Udham Kaur Chauhan, was born to her mother, Karmi Kaur Mohay and father, Dulla Ram Mohay, in the village of Sarahl Quazian in Punjab, India. She was the eldest sister of eight siblings. While her husband worked in the Ludhiana, she raised her children and ran the household on her own before the whole family moved to Ludhiana in 1970. Her endless compassion and dedication to the family spanned great distances, from India to England, to Canada and the United States. In the summer of 1986, Udham moved to live in Canada with her son Gurcharan Chauhan, daughter- in law Mohinder Chauhan and grandchildren Sonia, Raman, Vishall along with her husband Ram Parkash Chauhan and younger daughter. Her other daughter Tej and her husband Harbhajan live in England. Her younger daughter Krishna, her husband Parvinder and grandchildren also live in Victoria. Udham was always full of love, and she had a genuine and kind-hearted nature. For her, nothing brought more happiness and joy than to see all her children and grandchildren. The words, ‘family’, ‘oneness’ and ‘unity’ resonated with her the most. She personified love and devoted her whole life to the Sant Nirankari Mission. A grandmother and mother, there was no difference because ‘Bibi Ji’ is what everyone called her. Regardless of where she was, she found immense happiness in being with all her family. Udham merged into the formless Nirankar on October 1, 2021, in Victoria BC. She was surrounded by her entire family at the time of her passing. She is survived by her husband, Ram Parkash Chauhan; son, Gurcharan Chauhan; and daughters, Tej Kaur Lal, and Krishna Birdi.
