Carl DuBose III

Carl Louis "Dub" DuBose III, 65, passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 1, 2019. Carl was born in San Antonio, Texas to Angele Schoenleber DuBose and the late Carl Louis DuBose, Jr.

Carl grew up in Bloomington and Victoria, Texas, where he played baseball and developed a talent for golf. He graduated from Lamar University and owned Cody's bar in Victoria from 1982-89 then moved to Houston to be a stock broker from 1989-91. He then moved to Austin in 1992 where he retired from the State Comptrollers office after 22 years of service. He loved the outdoors, especially the mountains and the coast, and was an avid bicyclist. His pride and joy was being "Gampa" to his five "grandbugs" and loved taking them to parks, the duck pond, and the movies.

Carl is survived by his mother, Angele DuBose; daughter, Jade Ashley DuBose (Chadwick Finch) of Victoria; son, Justin Houston DuBose (Samantha Neal) of Denton; sister, Debra Busby (Jim) of Victoria; and his grandchildren, Hunter Digman, Sage Digman, Oriyana Finch, Emerald Finch and Lilia Finch.

A private family graveside will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

I worked with Dub at the CPA for many, many years. In all of our conversations, he never failed to mention how proud he was of Justin and Jade. He had a great sense of humor...something we both had in common. My prayers go out to his family during this time of sadness.
