Edward R. Tagliabue, 98, of Victoria, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2019. Edward was born June 23, 1920 in Victoria to the late Mary Rigamonte and Atare Paul Tagliabue. Ed loved his God and country. He proudly served in the United States Army in Germany during WWII as a small tank gunner. He was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a 60 year member of DaCosta sons of Hermann Lodge. Ed was happy to live a simple, honest life and never wanted more than God gave him. He was an electrician by trade with IBEW and worked hard to support the family he loved. He was a devoted husband, dad and “Pawpaw” and was especially proud to say that he had a great granddaughter. He enjoyed his neighbors and friends and would do whatever was needed to help them, never expecting anything in return. Ed loved tinkering in his garage, woodworking, making furniture, and building many porch swings over the years. If he couldn’t fix it, it most likely couldn’t be fixed. Ed took extra special pride in his yard and garden. His lawn was as green as it could be, the edging was perfectly straight and there was not a weed in sight.
Edward is survived by his daughter, Darla Fox (Bruce Jank) of Victoria; grandson, Matthew Fox (Gennie) of Houston; great-granddaughter, Mary Jo; sister-in-law, Marylene Tagliabue and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Tagliabue; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.
