Melvin Leo Janecka, 80, of Victoria passed away surrounded by family, Monday, March 5, 2018. Melvin was born February 12, 1938, in Victoria to the late Charles and Antonie Holly Janecka. Melvin worked for the Victoria Advocate for over 50 years as a Composing Room Supervisor. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lucille Sternadel Janecka; daughter, Dawn Koenning (Ty) of Brenham; son, Craig Janecka (Leigh) of Kyle; and grandchildren, Garrett and Blaine Koenning and Landry and Hudson Janecka. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Maynard Janecka.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation will be Monday, March 12, 2018 from 5 - 7 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. A Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
