William "Bill" Shellem, Jr., born on May 27, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Emma Kemp Shellem and the late William Shellem, Sr., passed away at age 85 on May 19, 2018 in Victorville, California, surrounded by his family. Bill graduated from college with a degree in business and in 2005 he received a Masters in Theology from Loyola. From 1951 to 1954, Bill served in the Navy during the Korean War. Bill worked for ARCO as an auditor for over forty years, until he retired in 1992. Bill was married to the love of his life, the late Peggy Shellem, for 64 years. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Smith. Bill is survived by his sons, William Shellem III and Kenneth Shellem, daughter, Barbara Van Ligten, daughters in law, Jill Shellem and Marcia Raza, son-in-law, Hans Van Ligten, thirteen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. At the age of 70, Bill became a deacon with the Catholic Church and devoted much of his time to serving as a deacon at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. He was also involved in the Knights of Columbus. Bill's hobbies included reading, as he always had a thirst for knowledge, traveling and doing puzzles. We will miss him very much and memories of him will forever live in our hearts. Friends and family are welcome to attend the memorial service, officiated by Father Pat Travers, on Wednesday, June 6 from 9:00 to 12:00 p.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, 13230 El Evado Road, Victorville, California, 92392.
