Born in Naples Italy on September 12th, 1923, she was vibrant and vivacious. After graduating from high school at 17, she became a radio operator transmitting meteorology reports to airmen while she was working for the Regia Aeronautica Italiana in World War II. "Tonie" married Roland Hardee on December 29th, 1952. The two were lifelong companions and raised a well-travelled Navy family. An avid student of Italian history, she loved singing, opera music and long distance swimming. She was a fantastic Italian cook and one of her greatest joys was feeding everyone. A member of the Third Order of Dominicans and the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Altar Guild, she was a devout Catholic.
Tonie was preceded in death by her husband Roland, brother Salvatore, sister Lucia, brother Vittorio and baby brother Enzo.
Those left to cherish her memory include her four children; Michael (Marianne), Annie, Jannet, and Elizabeth (Larry); her six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, her brother Ciro, sisters Teresa and Rosa (Robert), brother Joseph and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She will be remembered for her wonderful smile, beautiful singing voice, deep faith and enthusiasm for life. Her memory will be forever carried in the hearts of her family.
A public viewing will be on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Kellum Funeral Home from 6-8 pm.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at 11am. Burial will be at Rosewood Memorial Park. Online condolences may be offered at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.
