

He will be remembered, by those who knew and loved him, as a patriot, war hero, loving husband, terrific father and loyal friend.
Floyd was a proud US Marine, serving from 1950 to 1954 and achieving the rank of sergeant. During his enlistment he served in the Korean War, being awarded the Purple Heart. He had great respect and love for the ROK Marines and the People of Korea. He was past President of Veterans of Korean War Reunion.
He was a long distance truck driver and member of Teamsters Local 822 before his retirement in 1994. He was active in the Teamsters Retirement Council after his retirement.
Floyd was predeceased by his parents, Floyd P. and Margaret E. Newkirk.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Yvonne N. Newkirk; their son, Floyd (Eddie) E. Newkirk, and his wife Kristen and their children: Grace and Liam.
The entire family wishes to thank the staff of Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital for his loving and compassionate care during during the last weeks of his life.

Per Floyd's wishes, his memorial service and reception will be held at Foundry United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach, Va., on Saturday, September 10th at 2 p.m., to celebrate his life with family and friends.
A committal service will be held on Monday, September 12, at 11 a.m. at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle Va.
