Joseph, a resident of Virginia Beach was a veteran of 29 years of service in the U.S. Navy, having served internationally from July 1940 to September 1969. Following service in the Navy, Joseph was employed in the bowling business for 23 years with Mitchum Recreational Services. God bless you Dwight. He was a lifetime member of the Military Officers Association of America and charter member and supporter of the National World War II Museum in New Orleans.
Joseph was a dedicated financial supporter of organizations that helped feed hungry children and that assisted our wounded war veterans. As a volunteer driver, Joseph assisted the American Red Cross in their blood drives in Virginia clocking over 29,000 miles in a year’s time.
Left to cherish his happy memories are his wife Belinda Ann, and children Richard, Shelli (Mike), Jennie (Andrew), Robert Jr. and Daniel; sisters, Betty Mahoney and Helen Rockman of Carson City, Nevada.
A Celebration of Joseph’s life will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2:00 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.
The closing chapter will be the responsibility of Kellum Funeral Home at Rosewood.
